SAT PREPARATION

More About the SAT Reading and Writing Course

The SAT reading and writing section will consist of two modules, each with 27 multiple choice questions and a time limit of 32 minutes for a total of 54 questions to be completed within 64 minutes. This comes down to about one minute and 11 seconds per question. Students face the time constraint as a major challenge, simply because, even if the students know the correct answer, if they do not arrive at the answer quickly, they will run out of time for later questions. Furthermore, many students' face grammatical challenges because of heavy texting and social media use. While their peers understand the communication, it is not usually grammatically correct. As such, mastery of skills is indispensable to getting through the modules.

Various skills will be measured within these modules, and because of the time constraints, immediate recognition of skills being tested and strict concentration is needed to complete the modules successfully.

In this course, students will be trained first on the required skills without time constraints, and as the students progress, added "pressure" elements, such as time constraints and other real life test taking situations, will be introduced.

The SAT reading and writing course will be 8 sessions in length, with each session lasting 50-60 minutes. The first and last sessions will include a practice module that will be from previous actual SAT tests to measure progress. Further "boot camp" courses may be made available depending on demand.
