Do I need an SAT score to get into a Japanese University?

The answer to this question is really: "it depends". I know. This is the worst kind of answer, so let me attempt to clarify it a bit more.

If you are applying to a Japanese university as an International Student , then yes, you need an SAT score. Many well-respected Japanese universities such as Waseda University, Tokyo Metropolitan University, and Sophia University, will require an SAT score from International Students.

If you are a local Japanese student, the SAT may still be a requirement if you are interested in joining an International Program at your desired Japanese university. English degree programs, international relations programs, and International Liberal Arts are examples of such programs. In other cases, the SAT is an option as one of the required entrance examinations.
