What score is a "good" SAT score?

This is the age-old question. Well, the short answer is, it depends on where you are trying to get in for college. For the purposes of being practical and useful, I will define a "good score" as a score that is useful to your needs. You can start by going to U.S. News and World Report for their college information. U.S. News and World Report is one of the oldest and most trusted sites for information about colleges and universities in the United States of America. Even I referred to this site when I was applying to college many, many (many!) years ago!
If you clicked on the link above, scroll down about 3/4 of the way and you will find a search bar.

Once you find your college, there will be a summary page that tells you a range of SAT scores from recent accepted students. In the example below, the range is 1470-1560.

To be safe, a good rule of thumb is to take the 75th percentile of the range and voila! This is a "good" SAT score for your objective. In the example above (Claremont McKenna College), the 75th percentile would be about 1537 so a "good" score would be about 1530.
I hope this helps you start your college admissions journey! As always, let me know how I can help.
